NEW YORK — Xenomics, Inc. (OTCBB:XNOM), a developer of next-generation medical DNA technologies, will present a corporate overview and discussion of the Company’s proprietary technology development platform at BIO 2005, a widely-attended international biotechnology convention scheduled to be held in Philadelphia, PA, June 19-22.
Xenomics CEO Dr. Randy White will present an overview of the company, including an outline of its financial condition, revenue plan, and outlook for 2005 and beyond. He will discuss recent events such as the Company’s closing of financings totaling approximately $6 million. His presentation is scheduled for Tuesday, June 21, at 4 pm, as part of the conference’s BIO Business Forum. Xenomics will be joined at the conference by many of the biotechnology industry’s most innovative companies.
Dr. White will also discuss major Xenomics research developments and achievements, including the Company’s agreements to commence human clinical trials of their revolutionary non-invasive prenatal tests for fetal genetic abnormalities. The Company has signed research agreements with leading medical institutions North Shore - Long Island Jewish Health Systems and Eastern Virginia Medical School.
Xenomics’ central mission is to create and market an innovative suite of safe, sensitive and noninvasive medical diagnostic tests that have the potential to replace outdated, invasive testing methods while providing physicians with improved and highly accurate diagnostic information. The Company is developing a number of next-generation medical tests for applications including infectious diseases such as HIV and tuberculosis, as well as prenatal tests for fetal genetic abnormalities, such as Down syndrome. These tests are based on Xenomics’ proprietary Tr-DNA technology, which involves the analysis of fragments of DNA that have moved from the blood stream through the kidneys, where they accumulate in urine. Xenomics’ scientists were the first to detect this DNA material in urine samples.
The BIO 2005 conference is organized by the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO). Event organizers say that more than 18,000 biotech executives, investors, journalists, policy makers and scientists from more than 60 countries are expected to attend the convention. BIO’s mission is to be the champion of biotechnology and the advocate for its member organizations -both large and small. About Xenomics, Inc.
Xenomics is a molecular diagnostic company that focuses on the development of DNA-based tests using Transrenal DNA (Tr-DNA). Xenomics’ patented technology uses safe and simple urine collection and can be applied to a broad range of applications, including prenatal testing, tumor detection and monitoring, tissue transplantation, infectious disease detection, genetic testing for forensic identity determination, drug development, and research to counter bioterrorism. Scientists from Xenomics were the first to report that fragments of DNA from normal cell death cross the kidney barrier and can be detected in urine. The Company believes that its technology will open significant new markets in the molecular diagnostics field. Xenomics has three issued U.S. patents covering different applications of the technology for molecular diagnostics and genetic testing and a pending European patent for the same applications. The Company has organized a joint venture to conduct research on infectious disease detection with the National Institute for Infectious Diseases (Instituto Nazionale per le Malattie Infettive "Lazarus Spallanzani") in Rome, in the form of a new R&D company called SpaXen Italia, S.R.L.
